The studio collaborated with Christian Louboutin to design the collection of bottles for his debut range of women’s fragrances. The brief was to create an object that would be interesting in its own right, even when empty. Following earlier projects where the studio had explored dynamic forms created by twisting and folding materials, the bottle shape was evolved from the notion of piercing a slot in the centre of an ordinary flat-sided rectangular bottle and twisting it inside out, allowing the perfume to flow around the loop inside in an unusual way. The final manufactured glass bottles were then coloured with gradating hues of amber, garnet or violet, transforming to warm gold, evoking the differing characters of each of the three perfumes.
